Join our clients dynamic P&I department as a Claims Executive at their Newcastle office. In this captivating role, you'll take charge of a diverse array of P&I claims, including intricate and challenging cases, from initiation to resolution.

Your primary responsibilities will encompass:

  • Assessing the validity of claims against P&I Rules and member terms.Maintaining meticulous records, including Claims Summary Documents and Estimate Review (ESR), ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Managing claim processing and inquiries, engaging with members throughout the process.
  • Opportunities for domestic and international travel to foster relationships with members and brokers.
  • Handling claims efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Collaborating closely with the Loss Prevention Department on claims and vessel assessments, involving the FD&D Department when necessary.
  • Alerting the Underwriting Department to any notable risks identified.
  • Taking ownership of additional projects and activities within the P&I department, such as Sector and Expertise Groups, training, and member relations.

Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience:

  • Degree (preferably in Law) or equivalent, such as a Master Mariner's Certificate.
  • Proficiency in IT, particularly MS Office suite, with adaptability to new technologies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills suitable for diverse cultural contexts, adept at verbal and written communication.
  • Flexibility to accommodate client needs and collaborate effectively with colleagues across geographical sectors.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Experience:

  • Prior experience in shipping law or the maritime industry.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
