We are seeking a skilled Marine Engineering Technician (Electrical) to join our client's Marine Engineering team based in Denton, Gravesend, Kent. Reporting to the Engineering Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for the maintenance of machinery and hull systems across a fleet of small commercial craft, shore facilities, and piers. Your role will include skilled maintenance, fault finding, installation work, and supervising technical staff/contractors. Additionally, you will serve as a relief Ship's Engineer on the Authority's Salvage Craft and mentor junior staff. Self-motivation and the ability to perform manual lifting operations are essential for this position.
Requirements:
- Time-served Marine/Industrial Electrical Engineering Technician with an HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Proficient in vessel and industrial electrical distribution and control systems at 12V & 24V dc and 230V & 415V ac.
- Experience in electrical fitting and installation.
- Knowledge of the current edition of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and the Electricity at Work Regulations.
- Advantageous skills include diesel engine electronic control systems, diesel engine and vessel mechanical systems, and marine navigation equipment installation and fault finding.Highly motivated, able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Clean UK Full Driving Licence (manual).
- Ability to operate Forklift Trucks (training can be provided).
- Physically agile, able to climb ladders, and work in confined spaces such as small boat engine rooms and tank spaces.
