Consortio have partnered with a leading Marine Consultancy who are looking to bolster their analytics and investigation team by taking on and additional Marine Fuel Chemist. Our client has decades of history in the marine claims and investigation market and are planning to capitalise on their impressive history and continued success by investing heavily in their Marine Science department – a demonstration of this would be the brand new and state-of-the-art laboratory due to open in the coming months.

In this role as an Analytical Marine Chemist, you will be expected to carry out routine physical laboratory tests on marine fuel, oil and lubrication samples, including GC-MS and FT-IT, and then comprehensively write up the results into a detailed report for the end client. There will also be an opportunity for a more experienced fuel chemist to assist with other internal projects and contracts as an expert consultant – allowing you to travel globally and be involved in a “boots on the ground” style investigation. Due to our client’s stature in the market, the successful candidate would be expected to contribute towards the ISO 17025 accreditation that our client is looking to achieve.

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • A BSc or MSc in Chemistry

  • Experience in testing fuel and petrochemicals to ISO 8217 standards

  • Experience if GC-MS and FT-IR analysis

  • Demonstrable experience of detailed report writing

  • The right to live and work in the UK
