Consortio have partnered with a well-established organisation operating within the cargo inspection and claims sector based in The Netherlands. The company works closely with businesses involved in the international trade of fresh produce, providing independent assessments and reporting on the quality and condition of cargoes arriving from around the world. With a strong reputation built over many years in the industry, they support clients by delivering reliable inspections and clear reporting across a wide range of perishable goods. Due to continued growth in workload, they are now looking to hire a (Junior) Fruit Expert to join their team.

As a Fruit Expert you will be responsible for assessing the quality and condition of fruit and vegetable cargoes upon arrival. This will involve attending warehouses, distribution centres and port facilities to inspect shipments and identify any damage, deterioration or irregularities that may have occurred during transport or storage. You will accurately document your findings, record any damage present and prepare clear reports for the relevant stakeholders. The role will also involve reviewing potential causes of damage and providing observations relating to post-harvest handling, transportation and storage conditions. Alongside field inspections, you will spend time in the office compiling reports and maintaining accurate records of your assessments.

To be eligible for this role you need to:

  • Have an interest or background in fresh produce, agriculture, food logistics or a related field.
  • Be comfortable carrying out inspections in warehouse and port environments.
  • Have strong attention to detail and the ability to produce clear written reports.
  • Have the right to live and work in the EU and be able to work in The Netherlands.
  • Speak fluent English; additional languages such as Dutch would be advantageous.
  • Be organised, proactive and eager to learn new skills.

This role offers the opportunity to join a well-respected organisation on a permanent contract where you will gain hands-on exposure to the international fresh produce trade. In return, the company offers a competitive salary, strong benefits and the opportunity to develop a long-term career within cargo inspection and surveying.
