Ship Broker

Our client is an up-and-coming brokerage house that is looking to expand its current house of 6 brokers into double digits by the end of 2023. The impact of Covid and the decline of the market over the past 3 years has resulted in a great deal of companies in the dry market to struggle. However, the resilience of our client to push through the hard time has allowed them to now consider expansion and build up a team of talented brokers to dive into different markets and also conquer the North African trade route. They are a close knitted team that are constantly driven by success that is consisted of a team of hungry brokers that are always looking at the next step ahead.

This role is for a ship broker to join their offices in Dubai and become a part of a team of 6 brokers, that will be increasing over the course of 2023. Successful candidates will be responsible for the brokering of bulk carriers ranging from the size of handy to panamax. You will be directly reporting to the Director who promotes individual and ambitious working and requires individuals who thrive under pressure and have a clear business plan to grow and develop the business. You are expected to have your own built-up network in the dry industry and have the adaptability to instantly slot into your new role, grow your network and make deals from day 1. In addition to this you will need a personable style and you will have to hold your clients’ needs in the highest regard.

In order to be considered for this role, the following are vital:
 

• 3+ years’ experience with time charters in the dry industry across any trade route
   
• 3+ years’ experience with handy and / or panamax sized vessels.
   
• Ambitious and keen to develop your current skillset and take on new skills.
   
• Fluency in English – both verbal and written.
   

The following are seen as desirable:
 

• Degree in a maritime or business-related subject
   
• Have your own built-up network with clients and ship owners across North Africans trade routes.
