Consortio have partnered with a globally respected engineering organisation that has built its reputation on technical excellence, innovation, and long-term reliability within the marine sector. Operating at the forefront of propulsion technology, the company continues to expand its international presence and is now seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to join its dedicated UK team based in Devon.

The job is an excellent one because the client is unique in their openness of background on the role. The big sell on this role is that it does not require direct sales experience. This opens the role to fantastically experienced candidates from a technical or engineering background that are interested in seamlessly transitioning into a commercial role. It is only once or twice a year that a client is open minded enough to take a candidate with no prior sales experience and such a willingness to teach, allowing that first step into a new path of progression. If you are successful in your application, day to day you will be working as the bridge between the engineering team and the customer. You will work as the translator to the client bringing complex technical solutions to the table, resulting in them being keen to purchase. This is a true talent based heavily on you having amazing people skills! You will be working with clients in leisure and commercial, supporting the clients to develop unique propulsion solutions. You will work through the whole life cycle dealing with the initial enquiry right through to the after sales support required from the client.

The client base is global so this role will provide wide exposure to clients from different cultures and countries offering you the chance to travel abroad and meet clients. This is the best part of the job. Especially for those that ever sailed, this gives you a taste of the old life alongside the normal stability of a 9-5 plenty of the time too. A have your cake and eat it when it comes to travel while allowing for a family life as well.

To be considered for this role you must meet the following requirements:

  • You will have a strong engineering background in the maritime industry.
  • For example having sailed as an engineer in shipping or the leisure space.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Freedom to travel at will to go and meet clients
  • Right to live and work in the UK
  • Willing to work from Devon when not traveling likely meaning a relocation. But if you’re going to relocate anywhere in the UK why not the wonderful county of Devon? A brilliant place to raise a family!

Rarely do you get an option to get a fresh role in sales without having the experience before. What’s so exciting about this opportunity is our client are willing to train and support someone coming at it for the first time. If you bring the people skills, they will support you. They are also open to those that have existing experience in sales but it’s great to see a business being open minded to the future sales people of tomorrow. From a life style perspective, the win here is still getting to travel but when you’re not you’re living, whilst working in one of the most beautiful and relaxed parts of the UK. What’s there not to like?
