Consortio are lucky to have partnered with a leading organisation within the secure communications and defence technology sector. Our client plays a vital role in supporting UK Government operations and, due to continued growth, is seeking a Technical Service Manager to join their high-performing engineering team.

The Technical Service Manager will take full ownership of government support cases across secure communication systems, managing them from initiation through to resolution while ensuring all SLAs and KPIs are consistently achieved. Acting as the central point of coordination, the role requires a technically confident and highly organised individual who can balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, liaising effectively with engineering, project, and field service teams as well as external government customers. Responsibilities include providing regular updates to senior management, overseeing logistical and technical aspects of field service visits, and supporting continuous improvement through the development of processes, documentation, and trend analysis. The role also involves training and supporting junior engineers, assisting with onboarding, managing minor projects related to support and obsolescence programmes, ensuring escalation procedures are followed, and contributing to the launch and integration of new government services.

To be eligible you must:

  • Strong technical background in communications, IT networking, or electronic systems.
  • Previous experience in defence or government communications is highly advantageous.
  • Confident in managing stakeholders across multiple levels and disciplines.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and deliver under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Eligible for, or holding, DV Security Clearance (essential).
  • Willingness to travel and adapt to the requirements of the role.
  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks would be beneficial.

This is a unique chance to step into a critical role where your technical expertise and leadership will directly impact the success of national-level projects. The successful candidate will enjoy working in an environment where professional growth, collaboration, and technical excellence are at the forefront
