Consortio have partnered with one of our clients and requiring an Accounts / Payroll Assistant to join them on a permanent basis and be based in one of their offices in the outskirts of Basingstoke.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading high end building construction organisation for the county as well as for most of the South of England. They have an office within London, but this role will be based out of their Berkshire office. Their traditional ethos and expert craftsmanship has built a reputation for high class refurbishments and renovations of country homes, as well as period town houses and listed properties. The company also constructs bespoke new houses for private clients, both contemporary and traditional in style.
With a turnover of £60M per year they are growing year on year in their history spanning over 60 years, this is a very strong time in their history to be joining them.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing the payments@ email inbox for the accounts team
- Manage the supplier and subcontract deposit process
- Help to accurately input supplier invoices onto the electronic accounts system as and when required
- Back up for weekly and monthly payroll, and peripherals
- Labour agency invoices – seek sign off by surveyors and enter onto accounts system
- Assist with input of applications onto the electronic accounts system as and when required
- Making sure email/telephone responses are prompt to keep supply chain relationships in good order and to help the internal process
- Maintenance of supplier and subcontract ledgersUndertake any other duties and responsibilities that may be reasonably expected within the nature of the post on an ad hoc basis
TEAM SUPPORT
- Provide support to the Accounts Manager
- Provide support to the Accounts Supervisor:Helping to partner with other divisions alongside Accounts Supervisor
- Assist with credit checking of supply chain
- Support in relation to recording of insurance, VAT receipts and self billing agreements
- Provide support to the Payroll Officer
- Run one weekly payroll per month, and one monthly payroll per quarterAssist with P11ds and payroll year end
ROLE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
- Ability to deal with general administration tasks
- Past data entry experience
- An understanding of CIS tax
- Demonstrating an awareness of VAT in construction – when it can and cannot be reclaimed
- Understanding of payroll and related tax
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience of working in a fast-paced office environment
- Being able to demonstrate previous team working
- A polite and friendly manner and an ability to communicate at all levels particularly on the telephone
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office package
- Good organisational and prioritising skills
- A proactive approach demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to deliver results
- Accurate with attention to detailAbility to meet deadlines

Monday - Friday - Early finish on Friday
