Consortio have partnered with a specialist engineering organisation that designs and manufactures advanced environmental and mechanical systems for the global maritime sector. With a reputation built on engineering excellence, product reliability, and long-standing relationships with shipowners and operators worldwide, they are now seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team.

This role offers the opportunity to become involved in the full product lifecycle, supporting both established product ranges and the development of new engineering solutions. Working closely with project, production, and engineering teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for producing detailed 3D models and technical drawings, supporting product improvement initiatives, managing engineering documentation, and contributing to bespoke customer projects. The position combines traditional mechanical design responsibilities with project engineering exposure, providing broad involvement across design, manufacturing, and delivery activities.

To be considered for this role you must meet the following requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience designing mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software such as Creo or SolidWorks.
  • Experience producing and maintaining detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, and casting.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience creating and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
  • Marine, industrial equipment, or heavy engineering experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Exposure to PLM systems such as Windchill would be beneficial.

This position offers the opportunity to join a highly regarded engineering business where employees enjoy broad technical exposure, genuine project ownership, and the chance to contribute to products deployed across the global shipping industry. Alongside a competitive package, profit-sharing scheme, pension provision, and ongoing professional development, this role provides an excellent platform for long-term career growth within a collaborative engineering environment. If you believe you meet the requirements, please submit your CV.
