I am looking for a skilled naval architect to take responsibility for a range of vessel design projects, working across different vessel types, class societies and client requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing individual elements of design projects while working closely with experienced naval architects, structural engineers and production engineers.

The company has extensive experience in small craft naval architecture, delivering projects from conceptual studies through to vessel incline, final stability documentation and post-delivery support.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake a range of naval architecture functions, including stability analysis, weight estimation and performance prediction.
  • Develop concept and preliminary designs, including hull form and general arrangement development.
  • Manage individual elements of vessel design projects from concept through to delivery.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their requirements and develop suitable vessel designs.
  • Support sales and business development activities, including client meetings and design discussions.
  • Work collaboratively with naval architects, structural engineers and production engineers.
  • Provide project management support across design projects.
  • Support the production team with general layout drawings where required.
  • Visit and survey existing vessels to support refit and design concepts.
  • Attend relevant industry events and conferences.
  • Contribute to company marketing materials, including brochures, website content, artwork and associated imagery.
  • Represent the business in a business development capacity when required.
  • Bring forward innovative ideas, new designs and techniques that could strengthen the company's intellectual property and product offering.

 

To be considered for this role you must meet the following requirements:

  • 4+ years proven experience working as a Naval Architect within a small craft design environment.
  • Strong knowledge of core naval architecture principles, including stability, weight estimation and vessel performance.
  • Experience contributing to concept and preliminary vessel design.Ability to develop hull forms and general arrangements.
  • Experience working with clients and translating their requirements into practical design solutions.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively across naval architecture, structural and production engineering disciplines.
  • Willingness to undertake vessel visits and surveys where required.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • A proactive approach to design, innovation and business development.
