Consortio has partnered with a respected offshore engineering consultancy to recruit a skilled Naval Architect. This is a unique opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary team working on cutting-edge floating offshore wind (FOW) developments alongside a range of complex offshore energy projects. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering hydrodynamic modelling, stability assessments, and installation engineering support for some of the sector’s most challenging and high-profile operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare weight reports, including inertia derivation.
- Manipulate surfaces and develop meshes for offshore structures and vessels.
- Perform stability checks using dedicated software and first-principles calculations.
- Set up and validate hydrodynamic models; develop 1st order RAOs, 2nd order QTFs, wind and current coefficients.
- Analyse vessel motions to identify operational limitations.
- Set up and perform mooring analyses.
- Derive bollard pull calculations.
- Produce clear, high-quality technical reports.
- Deliver engineering outputs to schedule, quality, and project-specific requirements.
- Share expertise within the team and propose cost-efficient innovations.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Master’s degree in Naval Architecture or Offshore Engineering.
- 2–10 years’ professional experience in relevant engineering roles.
- Proficient in Python for pre/post-processing of engineering analyses.
- Skilled with Mathcad, Inventor, AutoCAD, Maxsurf, Rhino.
- Strong problem-solving ability and able to work independently.
- Collaborative, with good communication skills and mentoring capability.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Desirable Experience
- Experience in the offshore energy sector.
- Transportation and installation project knowledge.
- Mooring and hydrodynamic analysis expertise.
- Familiarity with offshore operations and structures.
- Knowledge of Orcaflex, MOSES, AnSYS.
- Understanding of offshore codes and standards.
