Consortio is partnering with a well-established owner-operated shipping company to recruit an Operations Manager for its Glasgow office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced shipping professional to join a dynamic organisation managing a diverse fleet of tanker and container vessels. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing daily fleet operations, leading an established operations team, and ensuring the safe, efficient and commercially effective management of vessels.
The Operations Manager will be responsible for managing a team of operational staff while maintaining oversight of a fleet comprising of Container Vessels, Chemical Tankers, DPP and CPP Tankers . The role will involve close communication with Masters, charterers, brokers, agents and other key stakeholders to ensure voyages are executed safely, efficiently and in line with commercial objectives. The successful candidate will oversee claims handling, operational performance, voyage execution, regulatory compliance and the continuous improvement of operational processes. As part of a flat management structure, the position offers direct access to decision-makers and the opportunity to make a tangible impact across the business.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in an Operations Manager position within the shipping industry, or significant experience as a Senior Vessel Operator managing a substantial fleet.
- Strong operational knowledge of tanker shipping, with experience across chemical, CPP and DPP tanker operations considered highly advantageous.
- Experience leading, mentoring and developing operational teams.
- Proven ability to manage vessel operations, voyage execution, bunkering activities and operational cost control.
- Experience handling marine claims and liaising with P&I Clubs and other industry stakeholders.
- Good understanding of commercial shipping operations and stakeholder management.
- Knowledge of EU ETS and FuelEU Maritime regulations.
- Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a hands-on operational environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Seagoing experience as a Deck Officer or Chief Mate would be advantageous but is not essential.
