Consortio Recruitment Group have partnered with a global company who specialise specialise in a full design and build of retaining walls. As a Quantity Surveyor you will be joining the Oxfordshire office and which has a turnover of £20M per year and this is split between the manufacturing of retaining walls to the delivery side on construction projects. You will manage all costs on all site based project works, from the initial calculations to the final figures. Report on the project costs and recommend strategies to minimise costs and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards of safety and quality. The position will be a hybrid role with 3 days in the office which consists of 9 people and 2 days home working. With clients including some of the most respected civil contractors, rail contractors, national and local authorities, commercial and housing developers, they are proud to say they experience a high level of repeat business, confirming that their aim of providing a unique service the sector can depend on is valued within the market.

Responsibilies

  • Provision of Quantity Surveying support services to the project office and individual sites
  • Responsible for preparing and agreeing client valuations and applications for payment
  • Assisting with managing and agreeing variations with clients
  • Management of Sub contractors, progress measurement, Contract Change Orders and Sub Contractor claims, valuing completed work, variations and final accounts and authorising payments
  • Assistance where required in preparation of Sub Contractor work scopes, remuneration schedules and Contract documents
  • Review/measure works undertaken and actual measurements at site, including attending client measurement reviews and audits
  • Identify and prepare additional items and variations
  • Undertaking cost analysis for all project work and any remedial re-work
  • Performing risk and value management and cost control
  • Participate in the resolution of commercial/contractual issues, liaising with external QS where necessary
  • Advising on procurement strategy;Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks;Working with estimators with the preparation and analysis of costing for tenders;Allocating work to subcontractors;Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use, including NEC and JCT; Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.
  • Responsible for the assessment of  contracts and implementing alterations wherever possible to control  exposure to risks (financial, contractual, safety, insurance etc
  • Manage the organisation of contract documentation with the senior management and clients
  • Proactive working with the commercial teams as required
  • Retain all project correspondence within the electronic filing system
  • Supporting the Company’s commitment to ISO 9001:2015 by the implementation, maintenance and input of improvements to the business processes and procedures(where applicable to construction activities.

Skills:

  • HND / BSc / BEng in Quantity Surveying / Civil Engineering field
  • IT literate – Office Suite (specifically Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Good level of English and Maths
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Accurate and detail focused
  • JCT & NEC experience 
  • Strong experience and knowledge in construction contracts / legislation and its implementation at site level

Package 

£45,000 + car allowance + package + bonus,s
