Our client is a renowned maritime company with over 30 years of experience, specializing in handling high-profile shipping incidents. With in-house principal consultants and surveyors boasting extensive academic and hands-on experience, the company is a trusted partner for members of the International Group of P&I Clubs, major ship owners, maritime law firms, cargo interests, and underwriters worldwide.
As a Senior Marine Fire Investigation Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in taking authoritative control of marine fire and explosion incidents. Your primary objective will be to conduct forensic investigations to determine the root cause of these incidents. This challenging role is not for the faint-hearted; it involves investigating large-scale marine fires that often result in casualties, fatalities, and the burning/pollution of potentially hazardous cargo. In addition to your investigative responsibilities, the seniority of this position requires a significant focus on business development and maintaining client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take authoritative control of marine fire and explosion incidents.
- Conduct detailed forensic investigations to identify the root cause of incidents.
- Manage investigations involving casualties, fatalities, and hazardous cargo.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, including major ship owners, P&I clubs, and maritime law firms.
- Focus on business development to expand the consultancy's client base.
- Provide expert witness testimony in court and have prior court experience.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Extensive background in Forensic Fire Investigation on an industrial scale, preferably in the maritime industry.
- Experience in public fire service.
- Fluent communication in English, both written and oral.Advanced knowledge in fire science, fire safety, and fire codes.
- Court experience or expert witness training.
- Right to live and work in the UK or Singapore.
- Degree or Master’s in chemical or electrical engineering; Doctorate preferable.
- Experience dealing with insurance or P&I firms.
