With a reputation for handling high-profile disputes and providing expert advice on cross-border legal matters, our partner firm seeks experienced associates to join their thriving Marine & International Trade team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on a wide range of shipping, shipbuilding, and offshore disputes.
  • Handle work-outs and asset financing-related disputes.
  • Undertake non-contentious work, drafting and negotiating contracts including shipbuilding contracts, charterparties, MoAs, and contracts of affreightment.
  • Collaborate with shipyards, shipowners, and traders in their long-term supply contracts.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate technical skills and research proficiency.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and unambiguous documentation.
  • Efficient matter management.
  • Liaise with clients and third parties.
  • Manage experts and counsel proactively.
  • Develop an internal and external network of contacts.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients and peers.
  • Attend business development and profile-raising events.
  • Mentor and manage more junior-level staff when applicable.

Skills Required:

  • Excellent academic and professional qualifications.
  • Qualified lawyer with proven experience in shipping and commodity disputes.
  • Ideally, 3 to 8 years PQE (or equivalent relevant experience).
  • English law qualification preferred; Singapore law or other common law qualifications acceptable.
  • Ability to acquire, consolidate, and apply fundamental and up-to-date knowledge of the law.
