Our client is a global leader in the design and manufacture of marine propulsion systems, supplying high-quality solutions to both leisure and commercial marine markets worldwide. With a strong reputation for technical innovation, reliability, and customer focus, the company continues to expand its international presence. The UK operation is a small team, offering a friendly but professional working environment that values collaboration, initiative, and long-term development.

This is a long-term career opportunity for someone who combines technical understanding with commercial drive. The role involves working closely with customers to identify engineering challenges and develop propulsion or drivetrain solutions that meet their specific needs. You will act as the link between technical design and sales — providing technical advice, managing enquiries, preparing proposals, and supporting customers throughout each project. The position includes both UK and international travel to meet clients, attend exhibitions, and oversee project requirements. When not travelling, the successful candidate will be based full-time in the Devon office, as the company believes in maintaining strong in-person collaboration across its small team.

Requirements for the Role:

  • An engineering or technical background (mechanical, marine, or related field).
  • A solid understanding of how gearboxes, propulsion units, and drivetrains fit and work together.
  • Confidence in communicating technical concepts clearly and effectively to customers.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to engage with clients at all levels.
  • A genuine interest in developing a career in sales and combining technical expertise with commercial growth.
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and a proactive mindset, with a focus on long-term development.
  • Openness to candidates from varied backgrounds, including engineers seeking a transition into sales.
  • UK citizenship

This is a rare opportunity to join a respected international marine manufacturer in a role that blends technical problem-solving with global business exposure. You’ll receive comprehensive product and sales training, ongoing professional support, and clear opportunities for career progression within a growing organisation. If you’re an ambitious, technically minded individual looking to build a long-term future in a dynamic and supportive team, this position offers the ideal environment to develop and succeed.
