Consortio is proud to be working in partnership with a growing European vessel owner and operator specialising in inland tanker and barge operations. With a modern fleet trading across key inland waterways, this organisation combines operational expertise with a collaborative and personable culture. Following internal changes and continued fleet expansion, they are now seeking to appoint a Technical Superintendent to strengthen their shore-based team.
The Technical Superintendent will take responsibility for the daily technical management of approximately six inland tanker and barge vessels, ensuring safety, compliance, reliability, and performance standards are consistently met. Acting as the primary technical point of contact for onboard crews, the role requires strong communication skills, visible leadership, and a hands-on approach to maintenance planning, troubleshooting, and repair supervision. Working closely with senior leadership, the successful candidate will oversee technical budgets, coordinate audits, and support long-term fleet development initiatives within a growing and dynamic structure.
To be considered for this role you must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum of 2+ years’ experience as a Technical Superintendent or within a shore-based technical shipping role
- Sailing experience in a relevant engineering capacity may also be considered
- Proven exposure to tanker and/or inland barge operations
- Strong understanding of European inland maritime regulations and safety standards
- Excellent communication skills with demonstrable crew-facing or client-facing experience
- EU citizen, based in Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, or surrounding regions with ability to attend office regularly
This opportunity offers the chance to join a close-knit and professional working environment within a business that values collaboration, strong personality fit, and long-term development. The successful candidate will benefit from country-specific employment terms, 30 days’ annual leave, a company car, internal training support, opportunity to work a hybrid role and a competitive package reflective of experience. With additional vessels joining the fleet and further growth planned, this role provides genuine progression potential within an expanding organisation. If this opportunity aligns with your experience and ambitions, Consortio invites you to submit your CV for confidential consideration.
