We are currently seeking an experienced Technical Superintendent to join the Singapore office, with candidates required to have proven experience working with either Tanker or Container vessels. This is a highly important position within the technical department, taking responsibility for the safe, reliable and commercially efficient operation of an assigned fleet. The successful candidate will work closely with Masters, Chief Engineers, owners and shore-based departments, ensuring vessels maintain the highest standards of technical performance, safety, compliance and operational efficiency. Mandarin language skills are essential, and candidates must already hold either a valid Singapore Employment Pass (EP) or Singapore Permanent Residency (PR) to be considered.
Key Requirements
- Marine & Technical Background: A relevant marine degree with a minimum of three years' experience within the maritime or shipping industry, or a Chief Engineer's licence with at least two years' sea service as Chief Engineer, or a minimum of two years' previous experience working as a Technical Superintendent within a ship management company.
- Tanker or Container Experience: Strong hands-on technical experience with either Tanker or Container vessels is essential.
- Candidates should possess a solid understanding of vessel machinery, planned maintenance, repairs, dry-dockings and the technical challenges associated with their vessel type.Mandarin & Singapore Status: Excellent written and spoken English and Mandarin communication skills are required, enabling effective communication with vessel crews, owners and internal stakeholders. Candidates must also hold either a valid Singapore Employment Pass (EP) or Singapore Permanent Residency (PR).
- Regulatory & Safety Knowledge: Strong knowledge of the marine industry, applicable international rules and regulations, classification requirements and company management systems. The successful candidate will ensure vessels remain fully certified and compliant while actively promoting a strong safety, environmental and energy-conscious culture.
- Leadership & Commercial Awareness: Excellent leadership, communication and organisational abilities, combined with experience in purchasing, budget control, vessel repairs and dry-docking projects. You will be expected to monitor vessel performance, control expenditure and provide effective technical and operational support to shipboard management.
