About the Role

Consortio is proud to be partnered with a leading name in marine insurance and claims management, as they seek an experienced Damage Cargo Claims Handler to join their established team. Renowned for their global reach and client-focused service, our client specialises in the end-to-end handling of complex cargo claims across international markets.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is confident managing claims with precision and autonomy. Working within a team of specialists, you’ll be responsible for handling a variety of cargo damage claims, often involving intricate logistics and multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of cargo damage claims from first notification to final settlement.
  • Investigating liability and quantum by reviewing contracts of carriage, survey reports, and shipping documentation.
  • Liaising with clients, insurers, surveyors, freight forwarders, and third-party suppliers.
  • Providing clear, professional advice on claims strategy and settlement negotiations.
  • Supporting subrogation and recovery efforts in collaboration with legal teams.
  • Maintaining detailed and accurate claims records through internal systems and reports.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in marine or cargo claims handling, ideally with a focus on damage-related cases.
  • Strong understanding of bills of lading, INCOTERMS, shipping contracts, and claims procedures.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple claims concurrently.
  • Background in insurance, shipping, or maritime law is highly desirable.
  • IT literate with experience using claims or case management systems.
  • Have the full rights to live and work in the EU.
