We’re currently supporting a highly respected organisation within the maritime insurance sector, and they’re looking to welcome an experienced Claims Handler to their team in Rotterdam.

About the Role:
This position involves managing a portfolio of marine-related claims, liaising with clients, surveyors, and insurers, and ensuring timely, fair settlements. The ideal candidate will come from a marine industry background with prior experience in claims handling, marine surveying, or a legal qualification relevant to maritime law.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle and process a range of P&I and FD&D claims from start to finish
  • Liaise with clients, surveyors, underwriters, and legal representatives throughout the claims process
  • Review reports, assess claim validity, and negotiate settlements
  • Ensure all case files and reports are maintained accurately and in line with company procedures
  • Provide professional, efficient service to clients and build strong working relationships

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience in the marine sector (claims handling, surveying, or related maritime operational roles)
  • Background in law (either a formal qualification or hands-on experience handling legal aspects of marine claims)
  • Strong understanding of marine insurance practices, P&I and FD&D claims
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus)
