Consortio is proud to be working with an established engineering organisation operating within the maritime and industrial sectors. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality technical solutions, the company supports a wide range of clients including shipowners, shipyards, and industrial operators. Their work focuses on the design, manufacture, and maintenance of specialist equipment, and they are known for their commitment to safety, reliability, and engineering excellence. Due to continued growth and an increasing workload, they are now looking to appoint a Gearbox Engineer to join their team.
As a Gearbox Engineer, you will operate in a consultative, technically authoritative capacity, supporting the assembly, overhaul, and fault diagnosis of complex gearbox systems across marine and industrial applications. You will be responsible for interpreting technical documentation, advising on best practice, and ensuring all work is delivered to the highest engineering and quality standards. The role will involve close collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders, providing technical insight and contributing to efficient project delivery.
To be eligible for this role you will need to:
- Hold a BSc minimum in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Have strong experience working with gearboxes or rotating equipment within a marine, industrial, or heavy engineering environment (ideally 3–5+ years)
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of gearbox assembly, maintenance, and fault finding.
- Be highly proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Have a strong understanding of mechanical tolerances, alignment, and precision engineering principles.
- Be confident providing technical guidance and working in a client- or stakeholder-facing capacity.
- Be detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a wider engineering team
This role is part of a global organisation with opportunities across America, South America, and Europe.
This opportunity offers the chance to join a stable and well-regarded organisation on a permanent basis, where you will gain exposure to technically advanced projects while operating in a more consultative, engineering-led role.
