Consortio, in collaboration with a prominent company dedicated to ensuring safety on one of Britain's busiest inland waterways, is actively seeking an experienced Head of Engineering. Our partner company operates as a multimodal port, serving as an integrated logistics and services hub for diverse industries, including oil and gas, renewables, general cargo, cruise, and ferries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the Engineering and Maintenance strategy aligned with the strategic plan.
  • Establish a system of performance control measures for Engineering and Maintenance activities.
  • Oversee the maintenance of quayside infrastructure, operational buildings, vehicles, plant, machinery, and investment property.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to define and deliver strategic priorities, including funding applications, innovation initiatives, and achieving net-zero goals.
  • Communicate and promote strategic priorities throughout the organization, fostering a culture of empowerment within the port.
  • Provide leadership in project planning, design management, cost estimation, bid specifications, contract management, and construction supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with current CDM regulations and relevant safety laws.
  • Demonstrate technical and analytical skills, applying industry-standard analysis and design principles.
  • Drive business results in an integrated, proactive manner, creating a culture of accountability and collaboration.

Key Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • BSc/BEng or similar in a relevant discipline, such as Civil Engineering, with ICE chartered membership required.
  • Proven experience in engineering and/or project management in a leadership position.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in project planning, design management, cost estimation, bid specifications, contract management, and construction supervision.
  • Familiarity with current CDM regulations and relevant safety laws.
  • Ability to deliver business results in an integrated, proactive manner, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Excellent influencing skills at all levels across the organization and with key external stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to establish positive working relationships internally and externally.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
