Our client is a well-established global shipping business with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality maritime services across an international fleet. With a focus on operational excellence, efficiency and long-term relationships, they provide a professional environment where employees are encouraged to take ownership and contribute to continuous improvement.

We are currently looking for a Purchasing Officer to join their Ship Management Department in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day purchasing activities required to support the fleet, including managing requisitions from vessels, obtaining and negotiating competitive quotations, placing purchase orders and coordinating the timely delivery of materials and services. You will work closely with vessels, Technical Superintendents, vendors, contractors and port agents, while also maintaining accurate purchasing records, monitoring deliveries and resolving invoice discrepancies. The role will also involve monitoring supplier performance and identifying opportunities to improve purchasing and procurement processes.

The requirements for this role are:

  • 1 to 3 years' experience in a similar purchasing, procurement or supply chain role

  • Hands-on purchasing experience, ideally within a maritime or ship management environment

  • GCSE/A-Level standard education or equivalent, with a diploma or qualification in Purchasing, Procurement or Supply Chain Management preferred

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel

  • Confident using company systems and software

  • Good understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established international maritime business and take on a varied purchasing position supporting an operational fleet. The role offers the opportunity to develop your procurement expertise within the shipping industry while working alongside experienced maritime professionals.
