Consortio have partnered with a highly respected specialist law firm operating within the maritime, marine insurance and international trade sectors. With a strong reputation for providing commercially focused legal advice to clients across the global shipping industry, the firm is seeking a Senior Maritime Solicitor to join its growing team.
This role offers the opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of contentious and non-contentious maritime matters, acting for a broad range of shipping industry stakeholders. The successful candidate will take ownership of complex cases from instruction through to resolution, advising clients on legal strategy, risk management and commercial outcomes. Responsibilities will include handling shipping disputes, marine insurance matters, arbitration proceedings, contract reviews and wider maritime advisory work. The position also requires regular interaction with clients, providing practical legal guidance and acting as a trusted advisor on both routine and high-value matters.
Beyond technical legal work, the successful individual will play an important role in supporting the development of the practice. This will involve maintaining and strengthening client relationships, identifying business development opportunities, attending industry events, and contributing to the firm's profile within the maritime sector. There will also be responsibility for supervising junior members of the team, reviewing work, providing guidance and supporting their professional development.
To be considered for this role you must meet the following requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
- Significant experience within maritime, shipping or marine insurance law, (6-7 years PQE)
- Strong background in dispute resolution, litigation and arbitration.
- Experience advising shipowners, charterers, insurers, brokers or other maritime stakeholders.
- Ability to independently manage complex matters from instruction through to conclusion.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and an ability to deliver practical legal solutions.
- Experience managing client relationships and acting as a primary point of contact.
- Previous involvement in mentoring or supervising junior legal professionals.
- A proactive approach to business development and networking within the maritime industry.
