In partnership with an innovative company dedicated to ensuring the safety of Britain's busiest inland waterway, Consortio is seeking a dynamic Systems Engineer to join their team. Operating the most up-to-date port control service, the company facilitates the secure movement of thousands of leisure and commercial vessels annually. Responsible for 100 miles of river, environmental protection, and user safety, the company actively promotes the use of the river for trade and travel.
As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for providing high-quality technical systems engineering expertise, maintenance, and support across a diverse range of navigation systems software and systems. With a primary focus on safety of navigation and customer service excellence, you will conduct planned maintenance, equipment replacement, and contribute to project-related integration and delivery. This role involves effective response to escalated faults, out-of-hours cover via a scheduled on-call rota, and ensuring continuous functionality of navigation systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose and resolve faults, including complex technical issues, across a range of navigation systems and related infrastructure.Install, monitor, maintain, and administer navigation systems, infrastructure, and software.Contribute to the development and creation of maintenance and replacement plans for systems and associated infrastructure.Research and specify replacement equipment, assist with procurement, and project manage replacement projects.Create, update, and maintain technical documentation, change control, approval, and asset records.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Degree in IT, computer science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in a comparable role or setting.
- Thorough knowledge of GDPR and cybersecurity principles, including Cyber Essentials.Understanding and application of related H&S regulations (e.g., PUWER, LOLER, Working at Height, COSHH).
- Knowledge of risks and relevant mitigations associated with the team's work.
