A leading marine surveying organisation is seeking an experienced Bunker Surveyor to join its team in Rotterdam. This is an excellent opportunity for a marine professional with a strong seagoing background to transition into a shore-based surveying position, working across a varied portfolio of vessels and bunker operations.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out accurate bunker quantity and quality surveys, attending vessels in port and at anchorage, and ensuring impartial reporting in line with industry standards and client requirements.

 

As a Bunker Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting bunker quantity surveys and measurements onboard vessels.
  • Attending bunker deliveries and monitoring fuel transfer operations.
  • Performing bunker sampling in accordance with recognised industry procedures.
  • Inspecting bunker tanks, sounding arrangements and measurement systems where required.
  • Recording quantities, temperatures, densities and other relevant bunker data.
  • Preparing accurate bunker survey reports and documentation.
  • Liaising with vessel crews, bunker suppliers, terminals, agents and clients.
  • Identifying and reporting discrepancies, contamination concerns or irregularities during bunker operations.
  • Ensuring all surveys are completed accurately, independently and within agreed timescales.
  • Travelling to ports, terminals and vessels throughout the Rotterdam region and wider area as required.Maintaining a strong understanding of relevant marine, bunker and safety procedures.

 

To be considered for this role you must meet the following requirements:

  • 3+ years' experience working onboard seagoing vessels.
  • A strong practical understanding of vessel operations and marine engineering.
  • Previous experience with bunkering, fuel handling or marine operations would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of marine terminology, vessel systems and onboard procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to accurately record and assess technical information.
  • Confident communicating with Masters, Chief Engineers, bunker suppliers and other marine stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions while attending vessels.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and occasional short-notice assignments.
  • A valid driving licence.
  • Strong written and spoken English.
