Deputy Director of Operations

Our client is a well-established international shipping company operating a modern dry bulk fleet with a strong reputation for operational reliability and commercial performance. With continued growth and increasing fleet activity, the organisation is strengthening its operational leadership to support charter execution, enhance risk management, and further develop efficient, technology-driven operational processes.
 

They are now seeking a Deputy Director of Operations to oversee the day-to-day execution of time and voyage charters while leading the operations team. The role will provide operational input on fixtures, manage complex disputes and claims, support sale and purchase processes, and analyse fleet performance to improve commercial outcomes. The successful candidate will also maintain key relationships with charterers and brokers while ensuring operational compliance and efficiency across the fleet.
 

The requirements for this role are,
 

• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping & Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
   
• Minimum 8 years of dry bulk shipping operations experience
   
• Prior team leadership experience
   
• Strong knowledge of Time Charter and Voyage Charter operations including NYPE and GENCON forms
   
• Experience handling operational disputes, cargo claims, or arbitration preparation
   
• Fluent in spoken Mandarin 
   
• Fluent written and spoken English
