Dry Dock Specialist

Our client is a well-established international ship management business with a significant presence across the global maritime industry. Operating and managing a large fleet of commercial vessels, the company has built a strong reputation for technical excellence, safety and operational reliability. As part of their continued focus on maintaining the highest standards across their VLCC fleet, they are looking to strengthen their specialist technical capabilities.
 

They are currently looking to appoint an experienced VLCC Dry Dock Specialist to support the planning, preparation and execution of VLCC dry-docking projects. The successful candidate will take responsibility for docking and repair specifications, shipyard evaluation and negotiation, repair progress, quality and cost control, and the coordination of class and statutory surveys. The position will also oversee major steel, machinery, cargo system and coating works, ensuring dry-docking projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule and within budget.
 

To be considered for this position, candidates should meet the following requirements:
 

• Sailing experience as a Chief Engineer on tanker vessels
• Previous experience as a Technical Superintendent, Dry Dock Superintendent or Dry Dock Manager
• Proven hands-on experience successfully managing vessel dry-docking projects
• Strong knowledge of shipyard repairs, technical specifications, budgeting, cost control and class requirements
• Experience overseeing major machinery, steel, cargo system and coating works
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal
• Fluency in Mandarin is not essential but would be a significant advantage
• Willingness to undertake a high level of international travel
