Tanker Inspection Specialist

Our client is a well-established international ship management business with a significant presence across the global maritime industry. Operating and managing a large fleet of commercial vessels, the company places considerable emphasis on safety, regulatory compliance and maintaining the highest operational standards. As part of their continued development, they are looking to strengthen their specialist inspection and vetting capabilities across their VLCC fleet.
 

They are currently looking to appoint an experienced VLCC Tanker Inspection Specialist who will be responsible for conducting and managing inspections across the company's VLCC fleet. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of SIRE and SIRE 2.0, OCIMF requirements, pre-vetting inspections and gap analysis, PSC and Flag State inspections, ISM, ISPS and MARPOL compliance, as well as managing the close-out of inspection findings. The role will work closely with vessels, shore-based technical teams and other stakeholders to ensure consistently high standards of safety, compliance and inspection readiness.
 

To be considered for this position, candidates should meet the following requirements:
 

• Sailing experience as a Master Mariner on tanker vessels
• Existing shore-based experience as a Marine Superintendent, HSEQ Superintendent, Vetting Superintendent, Inspector or Auditor
• Extensive practical knowledge of VLCC inspections, SIRE and SIRE 2.0
• Strong understanding of OCIMF requirements, pre-vetting inspections and gap analysis
• Experience with PSC and Flag State inspections
• Full working knowledge of ISM, ISO, ISPS and MARPOL requirements
• Proven ability to manage inspection findings and corrective-action close-outs
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal
• Fluency in Mandarin is not essential but would be a significant advantage
• Willingness to undertake a high level of international travel
