Hong Kong Ship Owner Client is offering a fantastic opportunity for a Marine Superintendent in Hong Kong. The role’s responsibilities and requirements are well-defined, aligning with industry standards for such a position.
The candidate should be able to act as the focal point of contact between ships in their charge and various stakeholders, coordinating all activities in accordance with the shipping or management company’s policy. They must also be adept at budgeting, planning surveys, repairs, storing, and drydocking activities in a cost and time-effective manner.
For the Marine Superintendent role, typically, candidates are expected to have
- a combination of maritime knowledge, managerial skills, and regulatory understanding.
- An educational background with a degree in maritime studies, nautical science, marine engineering, or a related field
- Class 1 certificate of competency from an IMO white list country with a minimum of five years’ command experience as chief engineer
- Knowledge of Classification Society rules, Flag State requirements, and ship repair facilities/procedures is also valuable
