Consortio is proud to be working in partnership with a well-established and fast-growing maritime operator within the European towage sector. This dynamic and forward-thinking organisation manages a modern fleet of tugs and is recognised for its hands-on technical culture, operational reliability, and long-standing maritime heritage. With continued growth across its fleet operations, they are now seeking to appoint a Tug Technical Superintendent to join their team in the Netherlands.
The Technical Superintendent will assume responsibility for the technical condition and performance of several assigned tug vessels, acting as the primary shore-based contact for onboard Engineers. The role requires close collaboration with crew, technical management, and purchasing to ensure efficient planning and execution of repairs, dockings, and maintenance activities. The successful candidate will oversee budgets, maintain technical documentation, ensure compliance with class and flag requirements, and provide practical, solution-driven support both remotely and onboard when required. This is a hands-on position suited to a technically strong professional who thrives in an agile environment with short decision-making lines.
To be considered for this role you must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as Chief Engineer, Second Engineer, or within ship repair, ideally in towage or merchant shipping
- Completed mechanical or marine engineering qualification (MBO+ level or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of modern engine systems, electronics, and control systems
- Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken
- Dutch citizenship and willingness to be based in the Netherlands
This opportunity offers the chance to join a growing and informal maritime business where personal initiative is valued and development is actively supported. The successful candidate will benefit from a competitive package, a strong pension scheme, collective health insurance, gym compensation, travel allowance, hybrid working flexibility, 25 days’ annual leave with options to buy additional days, and ongoing training support including the option to maintain STCW certification. If this role aligns with your technical background and career ambitions, Consortio invites you to submit your CV for confidential consideration.
