Consortio has partnered with a leading organisation within the heavy-duty diesel engineering and marine propulsion sector to recruit an experienced Diesel Mechanic. This role supports the maintenance, overhaul, and fault diagnosis of large diesel engines and associated systems, operating within a technically demanding, safety-critical engineering environment.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the inspection, servicing, and repair of high-performance diesel engines used across marine and industrial applications. The position requires strong hands-on capability combined with sound engineering knowledge, supporting both scheduled maintenance and complex breakdown investigations, while ensuring work is completed to the highest technical and safety standards.
Essential qualifications and experience:
- Engineering degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years’ professional experience as a diesel mechanic, working on large-scale diesel engines and propulsion systems.
- Extensive hands-on experience with engine overhauls, fault finding, diagnostics, and commissioning.
- Strong understanding of diesel fuel systems, lubrication systems, cooling systems, and engine control technologies.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, and engineering documentation.
- Proven experience working in safety-critical environments with strict quality and compliance requirements.
- Good command of spoken and written English, with the ability to communicate effectively across technical teams.
