Consortio Recruitment is partnering with an established Ship Management company to recruit an HSQE – Marine Superintendent for its Athens office. This is an opportunity to join an experienced shipping team supporting a modern fleet, taking responsibility for the safety, quality and marine standards of an assigned group of vessels while maintaining regular involvement with the vessels themselves.

Reporting directly to the DPA, the HSQE – Marine Superintendent will be responsible for a fleet of 6 vessels, ensuring they continue to operate in line with company standards and international regulatory requirements. You will perform internal ISM/ISPS, ISO 9001/14001 and navigational audits, reporting and following up on findings in accordance with the company's Safety Management System. The position will also involve delivering onboard training relating to audit findings, HSQE campaigns and the results of PSC and Flag inspections. You will take responsibility for vetting inspections and oversee deck maintenance standards across your assigned vessels, working closely with Masters, crew and the wider shore-based team to maintain consistently high operational and safety standards.

To be eligible for this role you need:

  • A minimum of three years' seagoing experience, with experience up to Captain level
  • At least two years' shore-based experience within a similar HSQE, Marine Superintendent or marine safety position
  • Strong knowledge of ISM, ISPS and relevant ISO standards
  • Experience conducting or supporting vessel audits, inspections and onboard training
  • A strong understanding of vetting requirements and deck maintenance
  • The ability to communicate effectively with Masters, crew and shore-based departments
  • The flexibility to travel extensively, with approximately 90–120 days of vessel attendances per year
  • The ability to work from the company's Athens office when not travelling

The company offers a competitive net salary alongside a travel allowance while attending vessels. Employees holding a Captain Class A diploma will also receive 12 months of NAT insurance. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maritime professional who wants to combine a shore-based HSQE career with regular vessel involvement and responsibility for their own assigned fleet. Please send your CV to be considered for the position.
