Consortio have partnered with a specialist marine engineering and ship construction business based in Piraeus, Greece. Working across a varied range of projects involving workboats, barges, vessels and steel structures, the company is looking to expand its technical team as the business continues to grow. They are now looking to bring on a hands-on Naval Architect who enjoys practical engineering work and you could be their perfect next hire.
They are looking for a Naval Architect who can contribute to the design, analysis and technical documentation of marine construction and repair projects. The role will involve producing 3D models and technical drawings, preparing nesting layouts and carrying out strength calculations and structural analysis for steelwork and ship construction. You will also be involved in repair reports and technical documentation, supporting projects with practical engineering knowledge and working closely with the wider team to help deliver solutions that meet the requirements of each job. Experience with workboats, barges, ship repairs, steel structures or ship construction would be particularly beneficial. The company is looking for someone who enjoys applying their technical knowledge to real engineering challenges, rather than focusing solely on theoretical or analytical work.
To be eligible for this role you need to:
- Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture or a related discipline.
- Have some experience in Naval Architecture or marine engineering, although candidates with a practical, hands-on approach are encouraged to apply.
- Be confident producing 3D models, technical drawings and design work.
- Have experience with software such as Rhino, AutoCAD 3D, SolidWorks or Maxsurf.
- Have an understanding of strength calculations, structural analysis and steel construction.
- Be comfortable preparing technical reports and documentation, including repair reports.
- Have good written and spoken English.
- Be able to drive and travel to the shipyard when required.
- Have the right to work in Greece without requiring visa sponsorship.
This is an opportunity to join a growing marine business where you can get directly involved in practical ship construction, repair and structural engineering projects. The role offers exposure to a varied range of marine work, with the chance to develop your skills across design, 3D modelling and structural analysis while contributing to projects on the ground. For a Naval Architect who prefers seeing their engineering work applied in a real shipyard environment, this could be an excellent next step. Interviews can take place as soon as suitable candidates are available, with an immediate start preferred.
