Consortio have partnered with a specialist maritime business based in Piraeus, Greece, who are looking to strengthen their surveying team with an experienced Senior Marine Surveyor. The business is looking for someone who can bring genuine industry experience to the team, helping to bridge the gap between the more experienced and younger members of the profession.
They are looking for a Senior Marine Surveyor with a strong background in P&I and marine insurance, ideally someone who has developed their experience through either marine surveying, a seagoing career or a technical marine engineering background. The role will involve working across a range of marine surveying requirements, with particular importance placed on general and particular surveys, salvage and P&I-related matters.
The position would suit an experienced marine professional who understands vessels from a practical and technical perspective. A Surveyor background is ideal, but a Master Mariner or Marine Engineer background would be highly relevant, particularly where this has been combined with experience in marine insurance, P&I or surveying. The successful candidate will be expected to use their maritime knowledge when assessing vessels, investigating issues and producing professional findings and reports.
To be eligible for this role you need to:
- Have previous experience within P&I, marine insurance or marine surveying.
- Have experience with general and particular marine surveys, with exposure to salvage and casualty-related work.
- Come from a strong maritime technical background, ideally as a Master Mariner, Marine Engineer or experienced Marine Surveyor.
- Have a good understanding of P&I insurance and marine claims.
- Hold a degree or professional background in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or a related discipline, or have significant relevant seagoing experience.
- Have excellent written and spoken English.
- Be confident working independently while also contributing to a wider team.
- Be comfortable with travel as part of the role, including spending approximately 3–4 days away when required.
- Have the right to work in Greece.
The ideal candidate will be someone with strong character who works well within a team and is comfortable working alongside people at different levels of experience. The company is particularly interested in someone who can bring experience, knowledge and mentorship to the team, while still having the flexibility and energy to work across a varied marine environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced maritime professional looking to build on their career within marine surveying, P&I and marine insurance. You will be able to utilise your existing seagoing or technical knowledge in a shore-based role while working across a varied range of marine matters.
