Consortio Recruitment Group is delighted to be partnering with a highly respected and established ship owner and operator with a strong international presence and an excellent reputation within the maritime industry. With a diverse fleet and operations across several key shipping markets, the company is committed to maintaining high technical and operational standards while continuing to invest in the development and efficiency of its vessels. This is an excellent opportunity to join a professional Technical Department where engineering expertise and project ownership are highly valued.
The company is now seeking an experienced Marine Projects & Newbuilding Engineer to take a leading role in technical projects across the fleet. This is a hands-on position with a particular focus on newbuilding projects, vessel retrofits, energy-efficiency improvements and technical upgrades. The successful candidate will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from specifications and design reviews through to shipyard supervision, sea trials and vessel delivery. The role will work closely with internal departments, shipyards, Class, Flag and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical standards.
Key Requirements:
- Newbuilding Experience: Proven experience working on newbuilding projects, including specification development, design reviews, plan approval, shipyard monitoring and site supervision through to construction and delivery.
- Technical Projects & Retrofits: Hands-on experience managing technical projects, vessel upgrades and retrofit programmes, with the ability to oversee implementation onboard and at shipyards. Experience with Energy Saving Devices (ESD) or similar efficiency systems would be highly advantageous.
- Engineering Background: Degree or professional background as a Marine Engineer or Naval Architect, with proven experience in a technical or engineering position within the maritime industry.
- Regulatory & Stakeholder Management: Strong understanding of Class, Flag and international maritime regulations, with the ability to coordinate effectively with shipyards, Class, Flag authorities and internal technical, operational and commercial teams.
- Analytical & Communication Skills: Excellent written and spoken English, combined with strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities. Experience in vessel performance monitoring, voyage optimisation, fuel efficiency, environmental regulations or fleet data systems would be advantageous.
This is a particularly strong opportunity for an experienced maritime engineer looking to take ownership of major newbuilding and technical projects, while playing a key role in the development, efficiency and future performance of a modern fleet. The position can be based in Athens, Greece or Constanta, Romania.
