The company is now seeking an experienced Marine/Operations Superintendent to join its Operations Department in Athens. This is a key position responsible for overseeing the marine performance and operational requirements of an assigned fleet, working closely with Masters, vessel crews and shore-based departments. The successful candidate will provide guidance on cargo operations, marine matters and vessel readiness, while ensuring the fleet maintains high standards of safety, compliance and operational performance. The role will also involve close cooperation with Technical Superintendents to ensure vessels are fully prepared for inspections and operating efficiently.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
- Marine Operations: Take responsibility for the day-to-day monitoring of vessels’ marine performance and requirements, providing guidance and support to Masters and onboard teams on operational matters.
- Seagoing Experience: Several years of relevant seagoing experience, including a minimum of one year sailing as Master Mariner, with a strong understanding of vessel operations, safety and cargo handling.
- Shore-Based Experience: A minimum of one year of experience working ashore as a Marine Superintendent is essential, with proven experience supporting and managing vessels from a shore-based position.
- Vessel Experience: Previous experience working with bulk carriers and/or container vessels is required, alongside a strong understanding of marine operations and industry requirements.
- Leadership & Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with Masters, crews and shore-based teams. A proactive, hands-on and solutions-focused approach is essential, together with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a multicultural environment.
