Consortio Recruitment is partnering with an established and rapidly expanding ship management company to recruit a Technical Manager for its Athens office. This is a newly created position driven by significant fleet growth. The company currently operates a fleet of 25 bulk carriers, having grown from 16 vessels in just a matter of months, with ambitious plans to reach approximately 40 vessels within the next two years. The company is a modern, with a more European company culture than the normal Greek management companies, they pride themselves on their transparency and quality, employees value their focus to continual employee development programs.
Reporting directly to the Technical Director, the successful candidate will take a senior position within the technical department, with two Fleet Managers reporting into them and approximately 30 personnel within the wider team. The Technical Manager will play an important role in maintaining high technical and operational standards across the fleet while supporting the business through its next phase of expansion. The successful candidate will oversee the technical management of the company's bulk carrier fleet, working closely with the Fleet Managers and wider technical department. Alongside day-to-day fleet oversight, the role will involve developing the team and ensuring the technical function has the structure and capability required to support continued fleet growth.
To be eligible for this role you need:
- At least two years' experience as a Technical Manager or Fleet Manager
- Experience overseeing a fleet of approximately 20 vessels or more
- Extensive technical experience with bulk carriers
- Proven experience managing and developing a substantial technical team
- Strong leadership and organisational capabilities
- The ability to work effectively with senior management during a period of rapid fleet expansion
- The right to work in Greece without requiring sponsorship
- The ability to commute to the Athens office five days per week, candidates already based in Greece, particularly those with strong knowledge of the Greek shipping market, will be highly desirable.
