The company is now looking to appoint an experienced Technical Superintendent to join its Technical Department in Athens. This is a key position within the organisation, responsible for the day-to-day technical management and performance of an assigned fleet of vessels. The successful candidate will work closely with vessel crews and shore-based departments to ensure vessels are maintained to the highest technical, safety and operational standards. The role will involve overseeing maintenance and repairs, conducting vessel inspections, monitoring technical performance and providing hands-on support to Chief Engineers and onboard teams.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
- Technical Supervision: Take responsibility for the technical performance, maintenance and operational readiness of assigned vessels, ensuring all technical matters are followed up efficiently and effectively.
- Seagoing Experience: Several years of relevant seagoing experience, including a minimum of one year sailing as Chief Engineer, with a strong understanding of vessel machinery, maintenance and technical operations.
- Shore-Based Experience: A minimum of one year of experience working ashore as a Technical Superintendent is essential, with proven experience managing vessels and supporting onboard technical teams.
- Vessel Experience: Previous experience working with container and/or bulk vessels is required, ideally alongside exposure to a diversified fleet and varying technical requirements.
- Communication & Leadership: Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with Chief Engineers, crews, Marine and Purchasing teams. A proactive, hands-on and solutions-focused approach is essential, alongside the ability to manage multiple priorities and take ownership of technical matters.
