Consortio is proud to be partnering with one of the world’s most respected and long-established shipmanagement companies, a global leader in maritime services with roots in Hamburg and a network of home ports across the globe. With a legacy built on excellence, innovation, and tradition, this prestigious organisation provides tailor-made solutions across the entire shipping industry — from technical management and crewing to newbuilding and project management. Together with Consortio, they continue to shape the future of maritime operations by attracting exceptional talent to support their growing technical and project teams.
We are now seeking an experienced Newbuilding Superintendent (m/f/d) to join their dynamic Shipmanagement division. This is a pivotal role that ensures the success of newbuild projects through technical expertise, project oversight, and collaborative execution. The Newbuilding Superintendent will take a leading role in evaluating ship designs, negotiating specifications, and managing relationships with shipyards, suppliers, and classification societies. Acting as a vital bridge between the owners, technical departments, and shipyards, this position demands a blend of engineering proficiency, commercial awareness, and strong communication skills. Your expertise will directly impact vessel performance, compliance, and operational excellence across a modern, diverse fleet.
Key Requirements:
- Educational Background: A degree in marine engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
- Experience: Substantial experience as a Chief or Second Engineer, ideally with previous involvement in shipyard newbuilding site teams.
- Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of ship design, specification review, and the latest advancements in shipbuilding technologies, with the ability to assess technical solutions for efficiency, durability, and regulatory compliance.
- Business Acumen: Basic understanding of business administration processes such as reporting, budgeting, and cost evaluation, combined with effective negotiation skills in an international shipbuilding environment.
- Flexibility & Communication: Excellent communication skills with fluency in English (German preferred), and the flexibility to travel globally as required by project needs.
In return, you will join a forward-thinking company that values innovation, professional growth, and collaboration. You’ll be part of a motivated, skilled team working in a stimulating environment that offers extensive training opportunities, long-term development prospects, and an attractive compensation package. If you are ready to take on a challenging yet rewarding position within a globally respected maritime organisation, we invite you to come on board and help shape the next generation of vessels.
